“We all live differently, and I’ve always felt that differences should be celebrated and displayed boldly, delicately—even if at times whacky—as uniquely yours,” says Carly Seefeldt, who as a child painted her walls in a jungle theme, with green carpet to mimic grass and a homemade canopy made from a cheetah-print bed sheet. These days, you’ll find her working as an Associate Interior Designer at the Kohler Design Center in Wisconsin, where she has specified more than $1.5 million worth of Kohler product since being promoted to her position in February 2022. With Kohler’s support, Carly recently passed her exams to become a Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer (CKBD).

A 2017 graduate of Milwaukee’s Mount Mary University, Carly describes herself as a “go-getter” and says her days at work include design projects (from a powder room remodel to a two-kitchen, eight-bathroom new build), assisting Kohler’s stewardship team with various non-profit projects and working offsite to prepare for the company’s annual warehouse sale. “This year I even got my forklift license to be able to assist more thoroughly with the sale preparation,” she says. “If I had to choose my favorite part of my job it would be seeing new displays that I’ve helped design come to life.”

“Something about a highly textured space feels so cozy to me, and I love the raw, unfinished, light-wood look.”

Carly traveled to Scandinavia during her studies and the experience made her favor the clean lines and textured look of Scandinavian design. “Something about a highly textured space feels so cozy to me, and I love the raw, unfinished, light-wood look,” she says. Her current obsessions include “traveling to new and exciting places that have fabulous architecture for me to gawk at.” To date, she has racked up nine countries. And when she is home, she enjoys domestic bliss with her boyfriend, Mitch, and his (now their) cat, Lucy, whose hobbies include “being mean for no reason and sleeping on my face.”

As for future goals, this go-getter has far-reaching aspirations. “I would love to say I’ve been to every continent,” she says. “And I think seeing one of my designs featured in a magazine would be stellar!”
