Melisa Jahić embraced her inner entrepreneur at a young age. “I ran many ‘businesses’ as a child,” she explains. “I was a hairdresser, an artist, a banker—just to name a few. My parents would help me set up my ‘business’ by giving me all the supplies I needed and then I would get ‘clients,’ aka family members, to join in on the fun.” Her mom and dad, an architect and electrician, respectively, also enrolled her in art school at a very young age, where Melisa did everything from pottery to painting.

Now a New York-based Designer Account Executive at Sherwin-Williams catering to the residential design community in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, Melisa graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Finance and minors in Sociology and Human Rights. Immersed in the world of design and construction from a young age, she always had an interest in what’s required to make projects come together. “Taking on this career with Sherwin-Williams, I get the best of both the design and construction industry, with a wonderful view into the world of kitchen and bath design,” she says of her “dream role.” Her favorite part of her job? “Watching a designer’s idea come to life, from conception to implementation, and seeing the world through their lens.”

“Taking on this career with Sherwin-Williams, I get the best of both the design and construction industry, with a wonderful view into the world of kitchen and bath design.”

Among the endless list of projects Sherwin-Williams has been specified on, a recent one she loved was a bathroom remodel by The Brownstone Boys that involved re-glazing the bathtub in the company’s “Julep” green. Melisa describes herself as “open-minded” and says her personal design style is eclectic. “I love color and mixing-and-matching different materials,” she explains. “I’m a maximalist at heart who loves ‘60s and ‘70s trends, with a touch of Mediterranean style in my kitchen and bath.”

Engaged to her fiancé, Grant, and preparing for a fall 2023 wedding, Melisa also shares her life with cats Oliver and Marley, reads a book a week (generally true crime and historical fiction), will try any food once and loves visiting family in Bosnia and Croatia. “I would love to visit every continent at least once,” she says. “If I’m being honest, I’d love to visit every country at least once, but I feel like there is not enough time!”
