Latest Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI) Reveals Uptick COVID-19 Impact Eases in Q2
Consumers are spending, albeit at lower price points, with more millennials turning to remodeling

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — (August 10, 2020) — Today, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and John Burns Real Estate Consulting (JBREC) released their Q2 2020 Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI). The survey of NKBA members in manufacturing, building/construction, design and retail revealed the current health of the industry is rated at 5.9 (on a scale of zero to 10, with zero being poor, five being “normal” and 10 being excellent), up significantly from last quarter’s 4.1. The industry outlook proves even more promising, with future business conditions rated at a 61.9 (on a scale of zero to 100, where 0 is extremely weak and 10 is extremely strong, compared to Q1’s 19.8.

Each year, the NKBA recognizes the most exceptional kitchen and bath designs. Because of the unusual circumstances of the last few months, with many designers having limited access to projects and jobsites, the NKBA will not require professional photography as part of the first round of judging for its annual design competition. Q1 2020 Kitchen & Bath Market Index Finds COVID-19 Crisis Has Significant Impact on Industry
Bright Spots Ahead: Stabilizing Project Cancellation Rates and Revived Consumer Interest in DIY

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — (May 11, 2020) — Today, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and John Burns Real Estate Consulting (JBREC) released their Q1 2020 Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI). Each quarter, NKBA surveys professionals in building/construction, manufacturing, design and retail sales on industry conditions, with this iteration focused largely on the effects of COVID-19. Respondents say the pandemic has an impact of 8.08 (on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being no impact and 10 being significant impact) on their business, with retail sales (8.3) and building/construction (8.29) most affected, compared to design (7.96) and manufacturing (7.84).

NKBA: Size of the Kitchen and Bath Market is $158.11 Billion

National Kitchen & Bath Association research estimates K&B market at $158 billion in 2017, up nearly 7.5% over 2016

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — (February 20, 2019) — The National Kitchen & Bath Association released the results of its extensive Kitchen and Bath Market Outlook, revealing a value of $158.11 billion in sales of products and materials aimed at the residential kitchen and bath market in 2017, a 7.3% improvement over 2016.

This contributes to the $644 billion overall residential construction market, which includes $330 billion from the construction of new homes and $314 billion from residential remodeling and replacement (R&R) projects. Construction of new houses rose 8.6% in 2017, to reach a market size of $330 billion. Remodeling and improvement of existing homes (i.e., residential remodeling) amounted to $314 billion in 2017. This is 6.4% higher than it was in 2016.
