What a difference a year makes. In that brief time period, since he joined Moen as Associate National Account Manager overseeing in-store business for Lowe’s in the Showering and Bath Décor categories, Ben Cookinham managed the overall Lowe’s/Moen strategy and merchant relationship—including promotional planning, product line reviews and the launch of five new products—and ended up being promoted himself. Now the eCommerce Strategic Account Manager for Moen managing the Moen/Lowes.com account, Ben oversees online strategy for the brand.

“One day I could be setting up new product to be stocked in the Lowe’s Direct Fulfillment Center, and the next I could be building our Moen annual operating plan for the Lowe’s account,” Charlotte, NC-based Ben says of his job. “It’s challenging because you must be able to prioritize appropriately based on the day, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to see your hard work whenever you search ‘Moen’ on Lowes.com.” 

Perhaps Ben’s early childhood dreams had something to do with his talent for strategic planning. “I grew up always wanting to be a basketball coach, so I would draw up hundreds of plays a day on my clipboard and go outside and execute those plays with my friends,” he recalls. His foray into the Kitchen and Bath industry also prioritizes personal connection. “For me it’s the people, and the ability to create a personalized solution for a customer that inspired me to work in Kitchen and Bath,” he says.

Ben describes himself as “passionate” and says recently becoming a homeowner is one of his proudest accomplishments. When he’s not working, you’ll find him watching sports. “There is nothing better to me than sitting on the couch on Sunday after church and watching football all day long,” he says. “But besides that, I love to ski, snorkel, play golf, travel and spend time having a good meal with family and friends.” Among them are his girlfriend of two years, Victoria, and his two dogs, Philly, a Black Lab mix, and Sadie, a Mini Golden Doodle. As for the future, Ben has a rather unconventional must-do: “I have always wanted to cage dive with sharks,” he says. “I’m not sure I’ll ever get to do it, but if given the opportunity, I think that would be pretty cool!”
