As a child growing up in Cincinnati, Megan Heidel was constantly outdoors playing and exploring in the woods. “I loved using my imagination and creating spaces with natural materials,” she says. Now, as the Interior Design Group Leader at Case Design/Remodeling in Carmel, Ind., Megan has translated her favorite childhood pastime into a rewarding career, creating spaces with clean lines, natural elements and attention to detail. “Mid-century modern designs will forever speak to me for their simplicity and connection with nature,” she reveals.

“Every day, I am designing spaces for families and learning about how they function best.”

Megan joined Case in 2015 after graduating with honors from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Interior Design and interning with a local kitchen and bath designer. She  says she loves that her niche in residential remodeling allows her to “turn an existing space into something more functional and beautiful.” She describes herself as “determined” and enjoys the camaraderie of her team of like minded collaborators at Case. In her leadership role, Megan overseas a group of designers — a responsibility she calls her proudest accomplishment — and specializes in 3D modeling software to help clients visualize their future space and prepare the production team for a successful build. She also exercises her mentorship skills after work by coaching youth volleyball and is a member of NKBA’s Indiana State Chapter.

When she isn’t transforming kitchens and bathrooms, Megan can usually be found cooking, gardening, playing volleyball, hiking or hanging out with her her big, fluffy Bernese mountain dog, Russell. Her favorite travel memories are of Florence, Italy. “I could spend every day eating gelato, sipping espresso, wandering the cobbled streets, and enjoying the arts,” she says. But Megan’s top must-do in life is closer to home: Having a family of her own. “Every day, I am designing spaces for families and learning about how they function best,” she says. “I can’t wait to experience life from their perspective.”
