What do selling $3.4 million in cabinets annually and hiking a “14er,” one of the Colorado peaks that top 14,000 feet, have in common? Emily Townsend-Hinske has already done the former and plans to do the latter. Both require her to be diligent — the word she says best describes her — and in her role as Territory Sales Manager at PROfile Sales and Marketing, which reps Masterbrand Cabinets, she proves her determination by representing 10 lines and managing 35 accounts in Northern Michigan.

“What I enjoy the most about my job its building relationships and training designers on the various product lines I rep.”

Born into a family of kitchen-and-bath specialists (her father and grandfather own countertop manufacturer Michigan Kitchen Distributors and The Kitchen Shops retail chain), Emily graduated in 2013 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Michigan State University, where she was also active in two sororities. “Being involved in Greek Life taught me how to organize my time,” Emily says. “When planning events, there were lots of voices and opinions to be heard, but you had to compromise and work with each other to get things done.”

So it’s no surprise that in her current role, she most enjoys building relationships and training designers on the various product lines she reps.

Outside the office, Emily loves biking in spring, boating in summer, hiking in fall (her favorite season) and in winter, skiing (her preferred sport). She and her husband also enjoy traveling — they honeymooned in Italy — and playing with their Brittany spaniel Bennie. And while her days now revolve around neutral shades, wood finishes and metallic fixtures, her childhood was awash in color. At age 10, Emily decorated the eight walls in her 12 X 24 bedroom, comprising two rooms with a partially opened wall in between, in bold stripes and solids: green and blue in one room and pink and orange in the other. No worries. A striped duvet featuring all four colors tied the design together.
