Patience may be her name, but persistence is her game. “I believe persistent people are visionaries and dreamers,” says Patience Whipple, creative director at Salt Lake City-based Chariot Plumbing Supply and Design. “I’m the type of person who has a goal or vision in mind that motivates and drives me. My goals are typically the focal point of my life and I devote a major portion of my energy and time toward reaching them.”

Patience began her career at Chariot in 2018 as an administrative assistant and in the three years since, has seen her life evolve both professionally and personally. Not only did the company’s CEO, Jon Aird, recognize her potential and push her toward greater things, but Patience also “got married to a wonderful man, had a baby boy and graduated with my bachelor’s in graphic design.”

“I believe persistent people are visionaries and dreamers. I’m the type of person who has a goal or vision in mind that motivates and drives me. My goals are typically the focal point of my life and I devote a major portion of my energy and time toward reaching them.”

As someone who “lived a sporadic and unconventional childhood” that included periods spent sleeping in homeless shelters and eating in soup kitchens, Patience has overcome obstacles and setbacks others could never imagine. “Since then,” she says, “I’ve made stability my destiny.” In an environment where she is “always encouraged to run with an idea,” Patience prides herself on delivering unique suggestions that contribute to Chariot’s growing success. Her efforts have included creating the company’s first magazine ad, getting its vehicles wrapped with logos, enhancing its online platforms and capitalizing on its social media engagement.

Outside of the office, Patience finds time to enjoy cooking, volunteering, creative writing, watching HGTV and hula hooping. She also launched a freelance graphic design business, Visions by Virtue, in August 2020 and has worked with more than 70 clients, earning a top rating as an Upwork freelancer along the way. “I am passionate about product perception, graphic design, marketing and business development,” she says. “What drives a company to success interests and inspires me.”
