Emily-Anne Walker describes herself as “an optimist, a natural enthusiast, an intelligent team player and an empathetic soul,” while one former manager says Emily-Anne’s projects were successful because of her commitment to perfection. A peer admits, “I feed off her flame and appreciate her enthusiasm.” These are certainly qualities that have helped Emily-Anne excel over the past five years as a Senior Marketing Specialist—Showroom/Builder for Newport News, Va.-based Ferguson Enterprises, working exclusively with its luxury showroom brand Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery.
But a look back at her formative years reveals the depth of Emily-Anne’s talents. While in high school, she was recognized as one of Newsweek’s 150 Most Fearless Women in the World and received the Presidential Service Award from former President Barack Obama. She later authored FLAWD: How to Stop Hating on Yourself, Others and the Things That Make You Who You Are (Penguin Random House, 2015) and founded WeStopHate.org, a global not-for-profit program developed to combat teenage bullying. She also graduated from Columbia University and held internships with Nickelodeon, Disney’s ABC Television Group, Newsweek, The Daily Beast and Seventeen Magazine.
“Experiencing the beauty of a well-designed kitchen or bathroom gives me all the feels. I love seeing industry trends come to life in these spaces and I am constantly impressed — and at times, amazed — by the level of talent and creativity of kitchen and bath designers.”
Emily-Anne says the best part of her job is getting to learn about all the latest and greatest products in the kitchen-and-bath realm. “Experiencing the beauty of a well-designed kitchen or bathroom gives me all the feels,” she explains. “I love seeing industry trends come to life in these spaces and I am constantly impressed — and at times, amazed — by the level of talent and creativity of kitchen and bath designers.” She is proud of her contribution to the creation of Ferguson’s annual Best of Show, which highlights outstanding work by interior design professionals from across the country, and her election as Training & Mentoring Leader for the company’s Women’s Business Resource Group, EmpowHER.
Outside of work, Emily-Anne and her husband, Casey, will soon welcome a baby girl and the mom-to-be has been busy designing a “pretty in pink” nursery. She also enjoys hanging out with her cockapoo, Archer, and puggle, Jefferson, and thrifting and antiquing. “I could easily spend my entire weekend searching for treasures at estate sales, thrift stores and antique malls,” says this accomplished young woman who, when she wasn’t “vlogging” and making comedy videos on YouTube, spent her childhood summers in her French father’s family home in a small fishing village in Brittany. These days it’s Paris she adores, calling the architecture “breathtaking.”
