An Evening of Culinary Delight and Universal Design at ADU

We have a great event planned for our November meeting. Chapter sponsor ADU will be hosting at their beautifully appointed showroom in York and have planned an evening of both design education and culinary fun for us all to enjoy. A representative from Monogram will present a CEU presentation on the subject of Universal Design. Celebrity chef, Chef Egg, will be preparing the food for the evening and will end the night with a cooking demonstration. We hope to see you there!

Universal Design: A New Approach To 
Kitchen Design (1 CEU)
 
In recent years, Universal Design has become more important as the definition has been broadened to wider issues of social inclusion. A more relevant and necessary way to include all citizens without ignoring people with disabilities. This course discusses the specifics of Universal Design in the kitchen and the methods to enable and empower a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation. The goal of this course is to review the concept of Universal Design, then deep dive into how kitchen appliances and layout can play a major role in promoting a healthier and suitable life at home. 
 
Learning Objectives:
  • Review the principles of Universal Design and its application in real life circumstances in promoting a healthier life. 
  • Understand the opportunities and benefits Universal Design can offer to a kitchen design and to the adoption of Aging in Place.
  • Kitchen appliances should be designed to meet Universal Design guidelines. Learn about the attributes that promote the health and safety of its users.
  • Review installation options that meet the tenets of Universal Design and how it plays a major role in the safety of its users.
