Members from the design, remodeling and showroom sectors shared strategies for dealing with the pandemic crisis. By Dianne M. Pogoda

Keeping in touch with clients via video chats, keeping contractors safe with social distancing best practices, and keeping a positive attitude are three of the ways NKBA members are weathering the COVID-19 storm.

NKBA CEO Bill Darcy hosted the first NKBA Live panel discussion in its “Brave New Business” series with designer Kerrie Kelly of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab, showroom owner Nar Bustamante of Nar Design Group, and remodeler and home improvement TV personality Chip Wade, AKBD, Wade Works. They talked about how they are confronting challenges in communication with their clients, how they’re shoring up skills with digital tools and software to work with clients virtually, and reminded viewers of the power of a “real conversation” via video chat.

Darcy also shared some of the results from NKBA’s recent COVID-19 member sentiment survey that provided a benchmark of how members’ businesses are being impacted and how they are coping with the crisis.

Brave New Business will be hosted live on Thursdays at 2 pm (Eastern Time) and feature thought leaders across all segments of the business in a free online forum. They’ll cover topics of critical interest to kitchen and bath design, remodeling, manufacturing and distribution, as well as survival tactics for small businesses and independent operators. These discussions will share best practices, experiences and advice, and serve as networking opportunities.

Darcy will host the second episode, airing Thursday, April 9, featuring John Burns, founder of the highly respected John Burns Real Estate Consulting firm. They’ll discuss “What We Know So Far — The Impact to Housing, Remodeling and Supply Chains.”

The forums are free and qualify for CEU credit. To register for this week’s episode, fill out the registration form below and click here to learn more about Brave New Business.
