Blue Arnold, CMKBD

Blue Arnold, CMKBD is the Principal of Kitchens by Request, Inc. located in Jarrettsville, Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. Soon after, he joined the family business. Kitchens by Request is a Design/Build Company that focuses on exceptional Kitchen and Bath remodels and fashion forward design and install. He volunteered for the National Kitchen and Bath association for over 15 years. Served on the NKBA Board of Directors from 2013-2015 where he served on the Executive Committee as the 2015 National Secretary. He joined the Board of Directors in 2013 in the position of Region 3 Director for the Board of Chapter Representatives from 2013-2014. Volunteering on the local level he has held the following positions on the Baltimore/Washington Chapter: President 2007-2008, VP Strategic Planning 2009, VP Programs 2004-2006, Secretary 2002-2003 and Chapter Representative 2009-2014.

He has received numerous awards for projects submitted to multiple design competitions, including the NKBA Design Competition of 2021. His winning projects were entered in the following categories: Large Contemporary Kitchen, Large Contemporary Bath and Large Traditional Bath. He also received Honorable Mentions for category 2 Medium Kitchens in 2006, 2015 NKBA Baltimore/Washington Design Competition for the Bathroom category, and third place for Category 7 Large Bathrooms in 2008. He was additionally named the 2009 Cambria Lifestyles Winner for a large bathroom project. Most recently he was awarded the Chrysalis 2020 National Award for Bathroom Remodel over $75,000 and the regional award for Outdoor Living with an outdoor kitchen entry. Besides his awards, Blue Arnold was Lead designer for the 2007 KBIS “Digital Kitchen” Booth that was featured on CNN. He has served on numerous task forces and committees to include: Governance Task Force, 50th Anniversary Task Force, 2013 30 under 30 Selection Committee, 2014 NKBA Executive Nominating Committee, 2010 NKBA Student Design Competition Judge, 2011 & 2014 NKBA Design Competition Judge, Region 3 Secretary BOCR and the 2013 KBIS Chapter Officer Leadership Summit Training Facilitator. He also served on the 2018-2019 Member Standards Committee.

Blue was inducted into the NKBA Baltimore/Washington Hall of Fame in 2016 for his contributions to the chapter. He has been published nationally in the Traditional Home Magazine April 2011 issue and regionally in Houston Lifestyles & Home, Chesapeake Home, Style Magazine, and Baltimore Magazine. He and his spouse of 23 years, Perry Christian, enjoy boating on the Chesapeake with their Wheaten Terriers, traveling to unique destinations all over the world, cooking, eating and spending time with their family and friends.
