ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Doug Walter, AIA, CMKBD, has been a residential architect in Denver for the past 44 years, and NKBA member since 2002.  He has special expertise in kitchens & baths, lighting, accessibility, and historic preservation.  In his career, he has won over 145 local and national awards, including a 2023 NKBA Design & Industry  Award for Specialty Kitchen and a 2022   Award for  Contemporary Small Kitchen. In his career he has also judged several dozen local and national design contests, including KBB’s 2022 Product of the Year Awards ,KBDN’s 2021 Design Awards. He has chaired award committees for AIA, NAHB, and NKBA Rocky Mountain Chapter, where he is Chair of Professional Development.

Doug is also a Contributing Editor for Pro Remodeler magazine. In addition to writing for industry publications, he has presented at Lightfair 2020, and 7 of the  past Kitchen & Bath Industry Shows including a two hour lighting workshops in  2021 that was scored as the 3rd best out of 70 seminars.  

Doug was one of the nine subject matter experts who rewrote the new Kitchen & Bath Design Guidelines , a two year project.  Previously he helped write the Lighting Badge curriculum. Currently he is serving on a third working group charged with rewriting the NKBA Certification requirements.
