NKBA MISSION STATEMENT
Through the creation of marketplaces, networks, and certifications, NKBA will inspire, lead, and empower the kitchen and bath industry.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The NKBA Central New York Chapter is committed to encouraging, supporting, and fostering the development of design members, trade professionals, and students. It is our goal that this initiative will ensure that the NKBA vision for everyone to enjoy a safe, beautiful, and functional kitchen and bath space is a reality for all.
OUR VALUES
SAFETY
We believe that living spaces should be safe, comfortable, and accessible for all. Small changes implemented during the design and construction stage of every project can improve the quality of life for the home’s occupants for years to come. Through courses and certification, we will promote thoughtful practices to include and recommend for all clients, regardless of age.
SUSTAINABILITY
Because we are committed to helping consumers and professionals understand their options for creating more energy-efficient living spaces, we will drive awareness of environmentally friendly products and practices.
DIVERSITY
Through chapter meetings and community outreach, we will foster meaningful relationships between designers, trade professionals, students, consumers, and manufacturers; and connect with future leaders of the industry.
TRADECRAFT
Our vision is that NKBA member products and services will be in demand for all living environments. By sharing sound kitchen and bath design practices, encouraging thoughtful design, and exchanging product knowledge and installation information within our community, we will enable industry professionals to develop a broad knowledge base and enhance their careers.
BEST PRACTICES
We believe in a human-centered approach to overcoming design challenges. By following NKBA Guidelines; using a variety of colors, textures, and materials in each design; brightening up spaces with enhanced lighting plans, and incorporating helpful technologies into kitchen and bath spaces; designers and trade members can create a living environment that nurtures overall health and the well-being of everyone who will live in and visit the home.
EDUCATION
ANN DEMORE DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Ann Demore Davis, CKD, CBD, was a respected colleague and cherished friend. She was an active member of the NKBA and the Central New York Chapter for over 20 years. She dedicated her career to the kitchen and bath industry as a designer and educator. After Ann was tragically taken in 2007, our Chapter started the Ann Demore Davis Award. The scholarship is awarded annually to those who exemplify service and excellence in advancing their kitchen and bath industry careers.
As a designer, mentor, and instructor, Ann constantly adapted to industry changes. As changes continued, our Chapter saw a need for this program to adjust to foster the development of new and upcoming professionals. In 2018, the Ann Demore Davis Award became the Ann Demore Davis Memorial Scholarship Inc. While this change means a different governing body was established, our Chapter's vision remains the same: to continue Ann’s legacy of assisting and mentoring trade professionals wishing to further their development.
Ann Demore Davis Memorial Scholarship Inc. is dedicated to fostering education in the Kitchen and Bath Design and Construction Trade Industries, providing support to educators and programs for those seeking Certifications, and an Annual Scholarship in her memory to those seeking to advance their education and credentials.
The NKBA Central New York Chapter is a proud supporter of the scholarship and encourages members to consider making a tax-deductible donation to this program. Consider making a donation today to help honor the memory and legacy of Ann Demore Davis by clicking (here).
