In August 1988, the NKBA Northwest States Chapter hosted a Chapter Weekender in Victoria, BC. Attendees were treated to knowledgeable industry speakers and exciting seminars, along with some fun social events, including a tour of Butchart Gardens. At that point in time the only other Canadian Chapter was in Ontario, but because of the success of the weekend, the seeds were planted to consider a 2nd Chapter in Canada.
In early September 1988, a local steering committee was formed to discuss planning a formal meeting to get the process started. On January 26, 1990, we were officially formed as the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s 36th Chapter, with a total of 38 members listed on the Charter. In 1995, the NKBA Prairie Provinces Chapter was formed, and our name was changed to the NKBA British Columbia Chapter.
