The NKBA British Columbia Chapter has been at the forefront of the kitchen and bath design community for over three decades, bringing together designers, industry partners, and innovators who are shaping the future of the industry across Western Canada. What began as a single weekend event in 1988 has evolved into one of the most connected and influential design communities in Canada. In August 1988, the NKBA Northwest States Chapter hosted a Chapter Weekender in Victoria, BC, where attendees experienced industry-leading speakers, educational seminars, and memorable social events including a tour of Butchart Gardens. At the time, Ontario was the only Canadian chapter, but the success of that weekend sparked the vision for expansion. Shortly after, a local steering committee was formed, and on January 26, 1990, the NKBA British Columbia Chapter was officially established as the association’s 36th chapter with 38 founding members, later evolving alongside the formation of the Prairie Provinces Chapter in 1995 to strengthen NKBA’s presence across Western Canada.
Over the past decade, the current board has focused on bringing fresh energy and a modern approach to the British Columbia kitchen and bath community, creating more opportunities for members to connect, grow their business, and elevate their presence within the industry. This renewed focus has led to stronger programming, deeper industry relationships, and a more engaged and collaborative community across the province. Members benefit from access to meaningful networking, professional development, and a platform to build credibility in an increasingly competitive and evolving market.
This momentum is reflected in the development of signature events such as the award-winning Western Canada Design Excellence Awards, now recognized as the largest design-focused awards event in Canada. Each year, it brings together hundreds of designers, builders, and industry leaders, providing members with a platform for recognition, visibility, and meaningful connections with key decision-makers. Today, the NKBA BC Chapter continues to create real value for its members through education, networking, and industry-leading events, offering a community where professionals are not only part of the industry but actively shaping its future.
