Japan is home to some of the oldest known ceramic traditions, dating back some 16,000 years.  This CEU presentation provides a glimpse into the heritage of Japanese ceramics and tile, bridging the birth of Shintoism to the arrival of Buddhism in the 6th century and considering the influences of each on early Japanese ceramics development.
