The luxury recycler also names Michael Foti chief operating officer.

Renovation Angel, the nation’s largest recycler of luxury kitchens, has partnered with luxury appliance giant  Miele USA on a new program, dubbed Recycle & Rebate, as part of RA’s mission to divert kitchens from ending up in landfills as part of the remodeling process and recycle them.

Through the new program, homeowners who donate their qualified kitchens will receive an exclusive discount of 10% off the Unilateral Minimum Resale Price (UMRP) on any qualifying Miele kitchen and laundry items when purchased through a select participating Miele dealer. Homeowners are also eligible for significant tax savings, and free “white-glove” removal of their old kitchen — which saves demolition costs. Participating trade partners may also be eligible for a referral bonus.

Fairfield, N.J.-based Renovation Angel is a non-profit whose mission is to protect the Earth, create recycling jobs and support various high-impact charities.

“With the growing number of kitchens placed in landfills, it’s more important than ever to foster sustainability,” said Renovation Angel CEO Steve Feldman, who founded the organization in 2005. “Customers can save up to $50,000 when they recycle their complete kitchen, including all the appliances. We’re thrilled that Miele will also be rewarding consumers who renovate responsibly.”

Nearly 100,000 luxury kitchens are discarded in landfills each year. By recycling kitchens, appliances and interiors, Renovation Angel has diverted more than 40 million pounds from landfills since its inception 15 years ago.

In a related move, RA also named Michael Foti its chief operating officer. Foti was most recently regional sales manager for the New York Metro area for Miele USA.

Foti began his career at Miele, driving double-digit percentage sales growth year after year, and working with key retailers such as AJ Madison, PC Richard and Ferguson. It was in this capacity that he identified the opportunity in working with Renovation Angel, first as a surplus outlet reseller, and later as a partner for helping drive new appliance sales. It was from this collaboration that the Recycle & Rebate Program was born.

“The idea is so simple,” said Foti. “When a kitchen is about to undergo renovation, the silly thing is to demolish and landfill what was existing. The smart thing is to donate that asset to Renovation Angel so the greatest value can be captured by way of tax deduction and free removal. Match that with savings on a new Miele appliance package, and this is something we have to offer the renovating consumer.”
