The NKBA-Baird Quarter 3 survey examines kitchen and bath industry demand trends as well as timely issues relevant to the industry. The third-quarter survey comprises of input from approximately 150 kitchen & bath professionals.

This study found that the repair/remodel demand has remained steady with year-over-year spending up 3%. The overall demand is slightly better than expected with the windows and doors category accelerated versus quarter two, however, other categories held steady.

The survey found that 78% of respondents indicated that Q3 results were in line with or better than anticipated and 70% of respondents also expect year-over-year sales growth in 2017.

Here are some highlights from the third quarter study:

• Kitchen and bath cabinets demand grew 3% year-over-year as growth appears balanced across dealers and retailers.
• Plumbing fixture sales increased 3% year-over-year in Q3 and 58% indicated higher year-over-year sales while
dealer/designer growth modestly outpaced retail growth this quarter.
• The flooring market saw sales +3% in Q3 as growth in builders/remodelers outpaced the growth in dealers/retailers
during the quarter.
• Appliance sales were +2% and 47% noted increase in year-over-year sales.
• 52% of respondents saw higher year-over-year sales while windows and doors sales increased 3% year-over-year in Q3.
