You’ve established yourself in your own kitchen and bath business, and participated in your local NKBA chapter, making a difference in your community. Now it’s time to make the leap to National.
Nominations for national leadership positions are open through the month of August. This is a terrific way to become a part of the greater organization, serving on the Association’s board of directors or on a committee. NKBA leaders are recognized by other industry professionals and consumers, they influence the direction of the association and the industry by helping to define strategies, programs, and services for NKBA members, and they enjoy tremendous networking opportunities to share ideas and gain invaluable business insight.
NKBA is looking to fill positions in its governance model. Multiple committees are seeking new people with the desire to engage, participate and guide the association. As an added attraction, national committee members — including the Board, Generative Council, Leadership Recruitment and Chapter Leadership Committees — receive special VIP packages at KBIS.

The committees are as follows:
Board of Directors: up to 5 positions available.
The Board of Directors has general supervision, control and direction of the affairs of the Association and its committees and publications. It determines NKBA policies and/or makes appropriate changes therein, and actively pursues the organization’s objectives. The Board also oversees the financial stability of the Association.
Leadership Recruitment Committee: 2 positions available.
The “human resources” component of national governance, the Leadership Recruitment Committee identifies and screens potential Board, Generative Council and Finance Committee members, and presents a slate of candidates for open positions to each group.
Generative Council: up to 21 positions available.
The Generative Council addresses and advises the Board of Directors on matters that have been presented to them by the Board, and provides a link between the membership of the Association and the Board to ensure that their needs are being appropriately met.
Chapter Leadership Committee: 2 positions available.
A communications-oriented entity, the purpose of the Chapter Leadership Committee is to provide a link between the grassroots of the Association, its chapters, the national Board of Directors and National Staff. This committee monitors member needs at the chapter level and conveys these needs to the Board and National staff. To serve on this committee, the association requires that volunteers are presently chapter officers, and they must continue in their capacity as an officer through the term of committee service.
KBIS Exhibitor Committee: up to 4 positions available.
The KBIS Exhibitor Committee provides a link between the exhibitors and attendees of KBIS and the Board of Directors to ensure that their needs are being appropriately monitored, evaluated and met. The KBIS Exhibitor Committee advises the Board on industry trends and makes recommendations for appropriate products, programs and services. This committee has great influence on the industry’s most comprehensive trade show.
