The National Kitchen & Bath Association and our sponsors Sub-Zero/Wolf and Waypoint Living SpacesTM are proud to present the 2011/2012 NKBA Student Design Competition winners.

This year’s winners were asked to plan a safe, functional kitchen or bathroom for their clients; a young professional couple married just three years, Michael and Jolene Matthews, and their dog Thor, a nine-month-old Alaskan malamute. The Matthew’s recently purchased a 19th century federal style row home in a northern major city.

In the kitchen category, three place winners and one honorable mention were awarded:

  • 1st Place Kitchen – Alice Mulcock, Seminole State College of Florida, Heathrow, FL
  • 2nd Place-Elaine Treadwell, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh- Online Division, Pittsburgh, PA
  • 3rd Place -KC Brandon Smelser, Montana State University-College of Technology, Great Falls, MT
  • Honorable Mention- Jean Dinkel, Cañada College, Redwood City, CA

In the bathroom category, three place winners and one honorable mention were awarded:

  • 1st Place Bathroom- Elaine Treadwell, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh – Online Division, Pittsburgh, PA
  • 2nd Place Bathroom- Lindsey Taylor Stein- The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA
  • 3rd Place Bathroom- Courtney Federspiel, Lakeland College, Vermillion, AB, Canada
  • Honorable Mention- Andrea Brown, Seminole State College of Florida, Heathrow, FL
