What You Will Learn
Do you struggle with where to begin when preparing a kitchen lighting plan? Is adding MORE lights really the ‘safest and best’ option? How do you know if the decorative fixtures alone are enough light?
There are so many questions and considerations when it comes to preparing a home lighting plan for clients. Today, one of the most common lighting layouts is the grid pattern of pot lights also known as recessed lighting.
Join me for an interactive learning session where you can bring a blank kitchen plan, and together, we will work through a lighting mock-up and determine what questions to ask your clients. Knowing where to start and the right questions to ask will boost your confidence in completing a successful and effective lighting plan. It doesn’t always have to include the traditional grid pattern of recessed lights but should also consider the distinct architectural aspects of each design. An example would be minimizing ceiling ‘acne’ by placing your recessed lighting with a purpose or selecting products that will make or break the space.
Please prepare the following items to work with during the class.
– A blank kitchen plan (ideally with a furniture layout) that can be marked up
– Important artwork (paintings, sculptures, etc.)
– Pictures of any focal points or special wall treatments you want to draw attention to
– A list of the light fixtures or ideas you would like to use
– Four different coloured highlighters
Let’s create a happy healthy kitchen lighting design together.
During this session, you will:
- Create a mock-up kitchen lighting plan with step-by-step instruction.
- Determine what questions to ask your clients when designing the lighting plan.
- Assess the different types of lighting products available for planning a kitchen design.
