Designing for a Changing Household – The Role of the Bathroom in our Everyday Lives
Presented by:
Dean Camastro , Northeast Regional Sales Manager, Duravit North America
CEUs: .1
What You Will Learn
Dean Camastro will present how the American bathroom has changed over the last decade+. He will explore how designing for a changing household today must accommodate various life stages from a multigenerational housing perspective but also from the perspective of the bathroom accommodating young adult use, family use, empty nester uses and elderly use.
As one of the most intimate and important spaces in the home, the bathroom must be a flexible and thoughtfully designed space. It is the location where we all begin and end our days. Using examples such as the National Building Museum’s Making Room: Housing for a Changing America exhibit as well as touching on how the pandemic has altered the public importance placed on wellness and hygiene at home, this webinar will look at how bathroom design can achieve universal design and access and encompass wellness and hygiene aspects.
During this session, you will:
- Identify the changed role of the American bathroom – its evolution from a purely functional space to a more purposeful, hygienic place designed to accommodate the needs of a variety of lifestyle chapters.
- Describe how smart technology can be applied across the bath to heighten ease of use, hygiene and overall comfort.
- Explain how ADA-Compliant fixtures and application of Universal Design schemes are impacting the American bathroom today.
