What You Will Learn
It is so exciting to see how the conversation of Universal Design, good design for all, and the emerging industry category of Wellness Design in the built environment is intermingling. We are all placing a higher value on our health and the health of our families. We talk about diets, exercise, and healthy homes on a regular basis right along with Aging in Place and Universal Design for all abilities and situations.
Throughout this conversation we will explore highlights within the newly updated NKBA Guidelines that will be published this year. We’ll also meet an Occupational Therapist and learn together that this conversation is bigger than just Aging in Place and Wheelchair use.
We spend 90% of our time indoors. We simply cannot afford to ignore the impact to our health, both physical and mental, in relation to our environments any longer. During this class we will dive into how integrated the categories of Universal Design and Wellness Design really are, leaving you with a fresh perspective and renewed sense of responsibility in how we approach all our clients and design projects.
During this session, you will:
- Analyze industry research, consumer habits and needs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the categories, products, and design implications.
- Examine the newly updated and published NKBA Guidelines.
