Color is like a language, for it’s one of our most basic means of communication. To achieve the best results in use of color, it must be understood as well as experienced. In this presentation, participants will be introduced to the basic dynamics of color, it’s principles, fundamentals, psychology, and applications.

Feras Irikat, Director of Design and Marketing for Lunada Bay Tile, will examine the impact of visual system, light, and texture on color in the design environment. Feras will lead a presentation outlining the basics of color theory and psychology followed by an engaging discussion of how to decode colors down to its original DNA.

During this session, you will:

  • Examine the illusion of color vs. the reality of color.

Feras Irikat – Creative Director – Lunada Bay Tile

Feras Irikat is a designer with a modern vision, a global perspective, and the confidence to take an unexpected path. Both a trailblazer and a tastemaker, Feras’ style is informed by art, architecture, and travel, and he interprets these cues for today’s lifestyle through the innovative use of color, texture, and technology.

Feras received his bachelor’s degree in interior design and his master’s degree in family and consumer sciences from San Francisco State University. He also completed advanced graduate work and research in color theory and color psychology.

As a celebrated educator of color theory, applications, and color psychology, Feras taught at San Francisco State University, UC Santa Cruz Extension and West Valley College.

Feras is a frequent guest speaker at design conferences, captivating audiences with his engaging candor and fresh approach to design. He shares his extensive knowledge about design, color theory and trends forecasting with architects and designers at seminars and showrooms around the world.

Regarded as an innovator in the design industry for his unusual approach to color and creative direction, Feras has partnered with a variety of companies for more than 18 years to produce furniture, textiles, and tile collections. He is a multi-dimensional marketing and branding professional with a talent to build strong teams and brand visibility in a variety of markets. Today he brings his entrepreneurial talent to his position as director of design and marketing for Lunada Bay Tile, a leader in the design and production of artisan tiles.
