The National Kitchen & Bath Association’s annual Design Trends research is conducted in two waves — Kitchen Trends and Bath Trends. This Bath Trends report draws on insights from nearly 700 industry experts across North America — including designers, manufacturers, remodelers, architects, showroom professionals, and dealers — about the design elements and product features shaping residential baths. It offers a comprehensive look at the styles, colors, materials, finishes, and technologies expected to have the greatest impact on bath design in 2026 and beyond.

New to this year’s report, designers were asked to rate 18 Bath Design Trends on both their trend lifecycle (Emerging, Growth, Mainstream, or Decline) and the extent of their appeal (Mass vs. Niche). The research also explores bath remodeling trends by generational group, revealing which groups are spending the most and what motivates their projects — from improving accessibility and safety, refreshing styles, upgrading fixtures and features, increasing home value, reconfiguring layouts, expanding bath size, to integrating smart technologies. This generational lens provides actionable insights for designers, dealers, and manufacturers looking to anticipate demand across diverse consumer segments.

Today’s bathroom design strikes a balance between luxurious wellness features and practical accessibility; tomorrow’s design will need to appeal to the younger eco-minded, tech-forward homeowners.
