NKBA’s inaugural Lighting in Kitchen & Bath Design report features the results of a qualitative study focused on lighting in kitchen and bath design. It offers a unique look at the role of lighting in residential settings and how it increasingly benefits homeowners’ evolving lifestyles – and even their well-being. Here are just a few key findings from the report:
- Many designers lack the knowledge and experience to expertly light a kitchen or bath. In fact, many are intimidated, or even fearful, of lighting.
- Lighting is too important to a project’s success to be left to the architect, builder, general contractor, electrician or homeowner. The designer needs to own it and advocate for it.
- Designers need to educate their clients on the benefits of proper lighting, visually demonstrate the difference it can make in their home and help them see that lighting has value worth paying for.
