THURSDAY
It’s not in the NKBA | KBIS booth, but don’t forget to join our Global President & CEO Bill Darcy to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of KBIS with champagne and macaroons. At this final event, the association and kitchen and bath community will celebrate the six decades that KBIS — originally known as the AIKD Kitchen Show (named after the association’s original name, the American Institute of Kitchen Dealers or AIKD) — has played a significant role in our industry. Join the association to celebrate this important milestone at NEXTStage at 2:30 on the last day of the show.
This year, KBIS is bigger and better than ever. The show has come a long way since its first iteration in 1964, which drew approximately 24 exhibitors and 250 attendees. In 1973, show management was turned over to the trade show division of Gralla Publications, which at the time published Kitchen & Bath Business magazine. The AIKD Kitchen Show joined with Gralla’s Apartment Builder/Developer Conference and Exposition and became the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and the National Kitchen and Bath Conference.
In 1981, the AIKD Kitchen Show changed its name to the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS). That show, which started out small, is now the centerpiece of North America’s kitchen and bath industry. Since 2014, the show as we know it today has been held in conjunction with the International Builders’ Show (IBS), sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
