Industry Icon Herb Kohler Dies at 83

Herbert “Herb” Vollrath Kohler Jr., Kohler’s Executive Chairman and a pioneer in the kitchen and bath industry, died on Sept. 3 in Kohler, Wis., at age 83. Kohler, an NKBA Hall of Famer (inaugural class of 1989), led his family’s company for six decades with an independent spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation, conservation and philanthropy. NKBA Goes to Germany

As part of its Global Connect program, NKBA hosted a select group of designers, dealers and showrooms to attend Kuchenmeile, an annual open-house event hosted by German kitchen manufacturers; Area 30, and visit factories. The tour, which took place Sept. 20-24, exposed members to some of Germany’s most iconic brands, including tour sponsors Poggenpohl, nobilia, Miele and Hettich. Read about their travels here.
