LED lighting expert specializes in solutions for kitchen, bath and closets

The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), representing nearly 50,000 North American kitchen and bath industry professionals and the owners of the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), announces  ELEKTRA GmbH, a German lighting manufacturer, as the newest member of its NKBA Global Connect program.

ELEKTRA is based in Enger, Germany, in the heart of the nation’s kitchen and bath industrial region. Begun in 1979 as part of the Ehlebracht Group, a maker of plastic and aluminum components, the company founder understood the value of combining plastic housings with lighting elements to create light sources that easily integrated into kitchen furniture components.

ELEKTRA is currently adapting its European know-how specifically with respect to trends, products and industrial design to accommodate the North American market. The company’s products are UL-approved and ready for inclusion in North American kitchen cabinetry, closet and other furniture components now.

The ELEKTRA product portfolio comprises linear LED lights, strips and connector systems, lighting technology and smart light systems. The company also offers unique solutions for individual spaces. Best known for its flexible in-cabinet lighting solutions, ELEKTRA offers a new solution for cabinet and furniture makers needing a more customized approach.

“What makes ELEKTRA unique is its adjustability,” said CEO Boris Niessing. “Shelves can be repositioned without rewiring, by moving them to the desired level along an embedded rail for a truly customized look. We believe this capability, along with our full portfolio of German engineered and manufactured lighting solutions is ideal for the North American market.”

The company has its own quality control and testing labs, and maintains eco-friendly sourcing and manufacturing practices. Additionally, it runs its own labor, installation training and apprenticeship programs to cultivate a workforce for the future. A member of AMK, the German  Association of the Modern Kitchen—  a Global Connect Strategic Alliance partner —  the German Electronic Association (ZVEI) and German Association of Shop Fitters (DLV), ELEKTRA is deeply involved in the organizations that are setting the pace for European kitchen excellence. The company also recently received a 2023 Interzum Award for high product quality and sustainability for its surface-mounted ring luminaire.

Currently partnering with Richelieu North America, ELEKTRA offers a new set of OEM LED lighting solutions to kitchen and bath cabinetry and furniture manufacturers. “We are proud to welcome ELEKTRA to the NKBA Global Connect community, and were thrilled that they demonstrated their commitment to the North American market by exhibiting at KBIS 2023 as a part of the German Pavilion,” said Suzie Williford, EVP and chief strategy officer of NKBA. “Global Connect aims to bring the international kitchen and bath community together, to make connections among manufacturers, specifiers, designers, sales and trade organizations in North America and around the world. We are pleased to be the catalyst for these connections that help strengthen and grow the kitchen and bath market the world over.”
