NKBA West MI was so excited to partner with The House That SHE Built team member Katie Johnson when she was in town recently to speak at another event "Built by Women". She took the morning to speak with 350 students at our "community connection" school Townline Elementary.
She walked through the book with the kids and talked about all the team members it takes to build a house. She reminded them it's OK to be the only one who looks like YOU in the room, and that YOU can do anything, just like that amazing women who build the home. Katie was happy to engage with the kids questions about the trades and the house as well.
The House that SHE Built left signed copies of the book for each classroom at the school to make sure that teachers and students could continue their discussion about the trades.
We were also joined that morning by representatives from several other companies who participated in the teachers lounge renovation and school supply drive. Thanks to Bekins, Lumbemen's, Virginia Tile, Monte Granite, Standale Lumber, Standale Home Studio, West Michigan Design House and the NKBA West MI board.
