EXTREME MAKEOVER - teacher's lounge edition- FINAL REVEAL

Just in time for the first day of school - teachers were able to walk into their freshly renovated teachers lounge.  What once had been a tan an orange space of eclectic parts and pieces and broken cabinets is now a fresh and relaxing space.

Partnerships with both national venders as well as local business and fabricators combined to fully transform the space over the short weeks of the summer.  NKBA West MI is so happy to empower and encourage the teachers in this underserved community to better pour into their students.  We worked with the school district requirements for Universal Access requirements as well as the school's request for an inviting and open feeling space to achieve a good balance for both.  With multiple microwave stations and a new coffee bar on the opposite side of the room, many people can use the space with out feeling crowded now!  Open shelves will allow the teachers to proudly display their coffee mugs, student gifts and add school themed flair to personalize and soften the space.  We worked with the school maintenance team for install as part of the negotiation with the board and although that meant a few quirks and bumps along the way, it ultimately lead to a successful outcome for everyone.

In total 10 NKBA members or partners donated to help make this possible.  Products and services totaled more than $12,500. Partners included: Bekins appliances, Whirlpool, Hafele, Monte Surfaces, Sligh Closet and Glass, Standale Home Studio, Homestead Timbers, Kraus, Belwith Keeler, Premier Granite and Stone and Schuil Coffee.
