INTERIOR DESIGN PHOTOGRAPHY
Speakers Douglas and Deborah Brown will be discussing composition as it applies to presenting spaces, the types of photos or "shot list", and styling and staging for photographs and video.
Douglas R. Brown - Owner and Photographer - Doug has a technical and business background (BSEE from Penn State, MBA from Kent State, and professional engineering license from Ohio). He retired after working 42 years in the manufacturing industry, the last 20 years as president. Doug traveled the world for business, always carrying a camera with him.
Deborah L. Brown - Creative Director - Debbie has a technical and art background (Masters in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a minor in art). She was an engineering manager for General Motors. In her last project she led the design team that was developing the electronics for the new Cadillac EV Lyric.
Debbie and Doug lived in Tokyo, Japan for four years in the early 90’s where they started their love of video and photography. Many weekends they would head off to some part of Japan or other parts of Asia to see the sights and photograph their unique experiences.
They started D R Brown Photography in February of 2021 after getting the opportunity to take photos of their house for an article published in Traverse Magazine. They developed a great interest in photographing “spaces” for interior designers, architects, builders, etc. Improving on their existing skills, they hired several of the top west-coast photographers in the industry as their trainers and coaches.
During their first full year of business (2022), they photographed more than 50 projects for their clients. The goals of the company include providing world class architectural and interior photography to their clients in Northern Michigan. Using their extensive business background, they want to be the strategic partner of their clients as part of their clients marketing team. You can see some of their work at www.drbrown.photography.
