Caitlin Bigelow is a “granny flat” expert and founder of Maxable Space, a
company that connects homeowners to the education and resources
needed to maximize their properties. Caitlin is part of the state wide
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Coalition, has been interviewed on NPR,
KPBS and news outlets, and has written extensively helping homeowners
build their own backyard units. She started Maxable Space in San Diego
after shifting from her work in marketing when she realized she could
pivot her skills towards the massive housing shortage in California. After a
successful launch in Southern California, she became especially
interested in how accessory dwelling units can be used to expand upon
existing housing capacity in the Bay Area, and is exploring the positive
impact they have on communities.
