For founder Jessica Curry, NKBA provides invaluable continuing education, industry connections, and access to emerging trends, technology, and innovation. As a Certified Kitchen Designer, she values the organization’s strong professional community and the relationships she’s built with fellow designers, vendors, and industry partners throughout the years.
This year, the KBIS panel discussion is especially meaningful. After attending KBIS consistently for several years, Jessica looks forward to hearing insights and takeaways from fellow designers and industry peers at the chapter’s upcoming event.
Frameless cabinetry is a clear favorite for the Interiors By J. Curry team, paired with a love for both richly stained walnut wood tones and timeless painted cabinetry—especially shades of green. Their work often incorporates detailed cabinet door profiles like molded, louvered, or beaded panels, along with dramatic full-height backsplashes and layered materials that add texture and personality.
Moody jewel tones are making a strong comeback, and the team embraces the warmth, richness, and sophistication these deeper color palettes bring to a space.
One of the firm’s most exciting recent projects was a full-home Mediterranean-inspired remodel completed in partnership with a local builder in Rochester. The Interiors By J. Curry team selected nearly every design detail throughout the home and oversaw installation across multiple spaces.
The project featured layered textures, bold colors, quartzite surfaces, copper accents and hardware, and two seamless porcelain slab showers that became standout focal points within the home. The team even designed a custom-shaped wool rug to complete the vision.
What made the project especially rewarding was designing around the homeowner’s accessibility needs. The result was a beautiful, highly functional home that supports aging in place without compromising luxury, comfort, or style.
When the team heads out for lunch or happy hour, ThaiPop is a favorite for curry dishes, cocktails, mocktails, and its vibrant tropical atmosphere.
Jessica is joined by Michelle, who has been part of the company for seven years and has grown from an assistant role into designing, specifying, and managing projects alongside the team. This spring, Interiors By J. Curry will also welcome a new design intern with hopes of growing the role into a long-term position after graduation.
