OCTOBER EDUCATION & MEMBERSHIP DAY AT THE A&D BUILDING

Julie Schuster

Instead of our traditional chapter meeting for October, NKBA Manhattan held an Education & Membership Day, celebrating Kitchen & Bath Month. This full day of "Fun Education," which included six content-rich CEUs, was open free of charge at the A&D Building to all industry professionals (with credentials). The day began with registration at the Lefroy Brooks USA showroom on the 7th floor, where Membership Chair Jeannine Price welcomed attendees while touting the benefits of NKBA membership.

Attendees mingled and enjoyed a delicious breakfast while they reviewed the day’s program and received their day passes, lunch tickets, and Passport for eligibility for Chapter sponsors’ generous raffle prizes. (Some worth over 100s and 1,000s of dollars.) The day delivered a full complement of education, inspiration, and networking with an amazing roster of speakers who covered: social media, new technology, luxury appliances, wellness design, biophilic trends, and more!

The five dynamic panels were moderated by the leading industry media publishers: Kitchen & Bath Business (KBB-Official magazine of the NKBA|KBIS), Design NYC (official magazine of the A&D Building), aspire design & home, Connected Design, Luxe Interiors + Design magazines, and Modenus Media. In addition, a keynote was delivered by Noelle Lavery from the National Kitchen & Bath Association.

WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU

First, I’d like to thank co-chairs, Toni Sabatino (Sponsorship Chair) & Virginia Guillian (Lefroy Brooks–Council Member), who provided inspiration, breathed, and carried through a successful day of fun learning. But in the end, it’s about the volunteers in a non-profit organization, and ours went beyond the call-of-duty!

There are no words to describe the depth of our Chapter’s thanks to our volunteers who helped plan, strategize, and carry out the day for the ultimate perfect event. From setting up the day before, taking out the garbage, tracking down sponsors' prizes and SWAG bag items, and learning to be instant bartenders and coordinators.

Thank you, all!

Sincerely,

Charle-John Cafiero, Programs Chair

The participation and generosity of all our chapter sponsors made this day special for our members and, hopefully, for industry and new members, too!

Starting with giving us use of their showrooms for the panels: Hastings Tile & Bath, Cosentino City Manhattan, Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove, and Miele USA to the incredibly thoughtful prizes and welcoming hospitality from all our chapter sponsors.

Special Shout Out

For doing six months of work in six weeks: designer Gabrielle Napolitano, GabNap Design; Photographer Jeff Siegel; Videographer Tim Cree-Creepwalk Media. And to the fantastic printer who printed our graphs on a dime (a bit more than a dime but didn’t charge us overtime), Christine & Nathan of FASTSIGNS of Manhattan NY-NYU.
