SKS HOSTS LUXURY ROAD TRIP TO THE LG CAMPUS

By Diana Mosher -- On November 16, we took the culinary show on the road with Signature Kitchen Suite. SKS hosted the NKBA Manhattan Chapter Meeting at their new showroom in LG Electronics’ North American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Getting there was easy—attendees got to kick back and enjoy pre-event networking on the round-trip luxury bus from the A&D Building.

In New Jersey, we were warmly welcomed by Donille Perrone, Senior Brand Marketing Manager for Signature Kitchen Suite/ LG, and Helen Cho, Sr Director of Marketing, SKS & LG Pro Builder. Donille and Helen shared highlights of the LEED Platinum campus by HOK with Turner Construction. The building has spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and cutting-edge touches everywhere—like bird-resistant glass throughout the facility.

Attendees learned about HOK’s collaboration with LG’s leaders and local conservation groups to respect the environment by blending the 350,000-square-foot building into the landscape. The horizontal “ground-scraper” is 1,300 feet long—equivalent to a 120-story office tower, the equivalent of the Chrysler Building on its side. A feng shui master guided the design team in orienting the building to the southeast. Sixty thousand square feet of LG solar panels on the western halves of each office wing and above the parking garage generate 30 percent of the electricity used on the site.

We also toured the LG Inspiration Lab and checked out an OLED Aquarium that creates the virtual experience of walking beneath the sea; a TV studio for a behind-the-scenes look into how technology has transformed video production, and other learning stations. The LG Inspiration Lab is also open to schools and other groups in the community that wish to visit by appointment.

The rest of the evening was spent exploring Signature Kitchen Suite’s new Skyline Showroom, socializing, and enjoying the hospitality of our hosts. The SKS “True to Food” experience included enormous charcuterie boards prepared by SKS Executive Chefs, as well as other assorted bites plus wine and chocolate pairings. At the end of the evening, multiple prizes were raffled off, including Western-style hats. It was a Chapter Meeting to remember!
