Estimated average for single family homes grows to 2.65, marking two consecutive years of growth.
- Units in multifamily buildings average 1.65 bathrooms. This is one bathroom less than single family homes, continuing a downward trend since peaking at 1.96 in 2005.
- New homes with three or more bathrooms have declined to 33 percent from 38 percent in 2015.
- Home with two-and-a-half bathroom homes have consistently hovered at about 30 percent for the past seven years.
- Regionally, the West has averaged the highest number of bathrooms in single-family homes, followed by the Northeast, with the Midwest lagging.
- For multifamily units, those in the South average the most bathrooms, with the Midwest again trailing.
