Fresco, formerly known as Drop, makes cooking effortless by making your smart appliances work with you. Home cooks choose their favorite recipes with customizable options, and Fresco sends the instructions right to the appliance with the correct times, temperatures and settings.

The company unveiled its new brand identity earlier this year, reflecting its priority to connect dots in the kitchen–between appliances, home cooks, and recipes to make cooking easier. Starting in hardware with a connected weighing scale, Fresco has since evolved to become a platform for making any compatible appliance connected. Some of the brands that work with Fresco are:

“Drop was a great name for a physical product, but we pivoted to become a smart kitchen platform, providing end-to-end solutions to make appliances connected, from firmware development to IoT expertise and an app that pulls all the appliances together,” said Ben Harris, Fresco’s Co-founder and CEO. “As a result, we needed a brand that better represented this.”

Fresco also introduced the new “Connects with Fresco” brand which will be a trust signal to consumers that they are guaranteed the best-connected cooking experience and certifies appliances that can be controlled from smartphones, tablets, smart speakers and smart home assistants. Consumers can use the app to guide their cooking to prepare more creative meals.

Recently, Fresco closed $20 million in financing which was led by Alpha Edison, Morpheus, Alsop Louie, Vorwerk, Instant Brands and another appliance manufacturer which will be announced later as part of a new partnership. Fresco has been working with Instant Brands, the company behind the fan-favorite Instant Pot, since 2019. Last year it developed the Instant Brands Home Connect app to work with the Instant Pot Pro Plus, the first connected appliance to come out of the partnership.

Understanding that no kitchen has appliances from a single brand, Fresco as the neutral cross-brand solution is forming alliances with appliance manufacturers across the whole kitchen. Fresco is excited to continue to expand its ecosystem and make the promise of the smart kitchen a reality.
