Who invented the microwave oven? When did men and women first have separate public toilet facilities? What are 10 ways to prevent a fall in the home? Who said, “The function of design is to let design function,” or “Designing with comfort and safety in mind is simply good design, and making it look good is where the designer’s creativity comes into play”?

Find out these answers and so much more during NKBA’s Kitchen + Bath Month, sponsored by Miele USA, throughout October. A special microsite on NKBA.org will include stories chronicling the history of the kitchen and bath, NKBA Lists, interviews with industry experts, product news, fascinating facts, quizzes, quotes, quips and more about the two most important rooms in the house.

“Kitchen + Bath Month celebrates the most popular season for remodeling,” said Kelly Lam, Vice President of Marketing, Miele. “There’s no better time to be reminded that the kitchen and bath are great investments for the future. And this year’s Kitchen + Bath Month happens to fall as we are introducing the all-new Miele Generation 7000 cooking appliances. These new appliances, along with our recently upgraded refrigeration, dishwasher and laundry products, provide beautiful designs and purposeful innovation to ensure you and your home will be forever better.”

Miele USA, headquartered in Princeton, N.J., is the American subsidiary of the Gütersloh, Germany-based manufacturing giant, with revenues of over $5 billion. It was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, and remains a family-owned and run company.
