With nearly half of those doing 2021 K&B projects still working remotely, homeowners remain ardent about renovations.

The coronavirus pandemic remains in a state of flux, with the outlook seemingly changing by the week. When the fieldwork was completed for the July update of NKBA’s 2021 Kitchen & Bath Market Outlook, the crisis was easing, but has since become more dire, with infections rising along with the spread of the more troublesome Delta variant. This, however, has not dampened homeowner enthusiasm to move forward with remodels.

Among the 49% of homeowners engaged in a 2021 K&B remodel who are still working from home, 19% say they’re likely to continue remote work indefinitely, with the other 30% either expecting to return to the office or not really sure yet. About 40% continue to practice strict social distancing, and therefore, the emphasis on activities at home is heightened — so it’s no wonder remodels are maintaining their robust pace.
