Take your ideas and expertise to the next level. By Dianne M. Pogoda

NKBA thrives when the great volunteers dedicate their talents and energies to serve on a National level.  Self-nominations for National leadership positions will be open from July 31 through Aug. 31, and applying is just a couple of clicks away.

NKBA leaders are recognized by professionals across the K&B world and other industries; they influence the direction of the association and the industry by helping to define strategies, programs, and services for NKBA members, and they enjoy tremendous networking opportunities to share ideas and gain invaluable business insight.

Three positions will be open on the Board of Directors when the new term begins on Jan. 1, 2021. Several committees are also seeking volunteers with the desire to engage, participate and guide the association. National committee members and the Board receive special VIP packages at KBIS.

Applications will be accepted through Aug. 31, 2020. To nominate yourself, just click here and select the committee you feel best suits your skill set.

The committees are as follows:

Board of Directors: 3 positions available.

The Board of Directors leads the Association in carrying out its strategic plan, hires and holds the CEO accountable, and supervises and focuses on NKBA policies at the highest level.

Leadership Recruitment Committee: 2 positions available.

The “human resources” component of national governance, the Leadership Recruitment Committee identifies and screens potential candidates for the Board of Directors and other committees, and presents a slate of candidates for open positions to each group. The LRC presents a recommended slate of candidates for the Board’s consideration and vote.

Chapter Leadership Committee: 2 positions available.

A communications-oriented entity, the purpose of the Chapter Leadership Committee is to provide a link among the grassroots of the Association, its chapters, the national Board of Directors and NKBA headquarters staff. This committee monitors member needs at the chapter level and conveys these needs to the Board and National staff. To serve on this committee, the association requires that volunteers are presently chapter officers, and they must continue in their capacity as an officer through the term of committee service.

KBIS Exhibitor Committee: 2 positions available.

The KBIS Exhibitor Committee provides a link between the exhibitors and attendees of KBIS and the Board of Directors to ensure that their needs are being appropriately monitored, evaluated and met. The KBIS Exhibitor Committee advises the Board and NKBA staff on industry trends and makes recommendations for appropriate products, programs and services. This committee has great influence on the industry’s most comprehensive trade show.
