A “who’s who” of Broadway and the design world turned out for the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) Picnic By Design Event, including NKBA Insiders Elle Millard and Grace Jeffers. Held each September in New York City, Picnic By Design raises money to aid organizations that provide treatment, direct care, and education for people impacted by HIV/AIDS.
This year’s event was held at the Viacom Building in Times Square and was a tribute to Broadway. More than 20 Broadway-themed picnic baskets designed by design professionals from throughout the New York metro were auctioned off as part of the night’s festivities.
Designs ranged from classic Broadway shows like Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Tootsie which is making its debut on the Great White Way in spring 2019.
Designer Michele Alfano included an original cast autographed playbill from Dear Evan Hansen in her basket.
This year’s event was the foundation’s largest and most successful Picnic By Design event with more than 300 people in attendance. The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) was a sponsor for the event which raised more than $57K.
