Nominations for national leadership roles will be open from Aug. 1 to 31. By Dianne M. Pogoda

It’s almost August — and that signals the start of the national election cycle, which is open for the whole month.

These roles, as well as chapter leadership, help make NKBA stronger, and steer the association as well as the industry at large by defining strategies, programs and services affecting and benefiting our members. This is a self-nominating process; For more information and to apply, just click here and select the committee you feel best suits your skill set.

Opportunities include serving on the Association’s board of directors or on a committee. NKBA is looking to fill positions on several committees and is seeking new people with the desire to engage, participate and guide the association.

  • Board of Directors: up to 3 positions available. The Board has general supervision, control and direction of the affairs of the Association and its committees and publications. It determines NKBA policies and/or makes appropriate changes therein, and actively pursues the organization’s objectives. The Board also oversees the financial stability of the Association.
  • Leadership Recruitment Committee: 2 positions available. The “human resources” component of national governance, the Leadership Recruitment Committee identifies and screens potential Board and Chapter Leadership Committee members, and presents a slate of candidates for open positions to each group.
  • Chapter Leadership Committee: 2 positions available.

A communications-oriented entity, the purpose of the Chapter Leadership Committee is to provide a link between the grassroots of the Association, its chapters, the national Board of Directors and National Staff. This committee monitors member needs at the chapter level and conveys these needs to the Board and National staff. To serve on this committee, the association requires that volunteers are presently chapter officers, and they must continue in their capacity as an officer through the term of committee service.

  • KBIS Exhibitor Committee: up to 4 positions available.

The KBIS Exhibitor Committee provides a link between the exhibitors and attendees of KBIS and the Board of Directors to ensure that their needs are being appropriately monitored, evaluated and met. The KBIS Exhibitor Committee advises the Board on industry trends and makes recommendations for appropriate products, programs and services. This committee has great influence on the industry’s most comprehensive trade show.

NKBA urges members to consider nomination for these important positions — it’s a great way to gain industry prestige and recognition, build awareness of your brand, your business and yourself, share skills, knowledge and expertise, and give back to the organization and industry at large.
